The Nature Sanctuary needs site-specific interpretation of its historical features and ecosystems. Quality interpretation enhances your direct and meaningful connection with the landscape and wildlife. The initial sign (shown above) was completed in 2018 when we designed and installed the Robert Fluchel Memorial Butterfly Garden Interpretive Sign. In 2019, (shown above) the Friends of Parkville Nature Sanctuary designed and produced three additional wayside exhibits. For 2020 we plan to design and produce two additional exhibits. For 2020-2021 Fundraising is in progress for four interpretive signs - two for 2020 and two for 2021.

Our Commitment: The Parkville Nature Sanctuary provides some of the finest nature viewing and hiking in the Kansas City area. Enhancing your visitor experience with wayside signs is our top priority.
Our Needs: Waysides appear simple in form and function, but their creation can be complex. Development requires professional-level knowledge and skills for research, interpretive writing, graphic design and fabrication. Our goal is to raise $3,000 per sign.
