Amateur Photo Contest sponsored by Parkville Coffeehouse and the Backyard Bird Center
Have you taken a picture of the Parkville Nature Sanctuary that you are proud of?
We want to see it. Since 2018, the Friends of Parkville Nature Sanctuary has held a photo contest for amateur photographers.
With two major sponsors, Parkville Coffee and the Backyard Bird Center, the contest illustrates the unique beauty of our nature sanctuary.
Here’s how it works:
The Friends of Parkville Nature Sanctuary enters the new year with two title sponsors. Parkville Coffeehouse will continue to sponsor our monthly contests. And we’re pleased to announce that the Backyard Bird Center will now sponsor our Photo of the Year competition.
Both businesses have been big supporters of our contests, displaying photos of the monthly winners and providing gift cards to winners. We encourage you to support both of these local businesses.
So, do you want to participate? Are you an amateur photographer? Grab your camera and head to the Parkville Nature Sanctuary and look for images that reflect the wild area's unique beauty.
HOW IT WORKS Amateur photographers choose their best photo for each month, then email the jpeg file to us at [email protected]. Photographers who accept compensation for their work are considered professionals and are not eligible.* A panel of judges votes on the best image, and the winner has his or her photo framed and displayed at Parkville City Hall, the Parkville Coffeehouse and the Backyard Bird Center. Winners also receive an honorary certificate and a gift card. The FOPNS board of directors votes on the best of the 12 winning photos at the end of the year and determines the Photo of the Year.
