The Friends of Parkville Nature Sanctuary is the non-profit funding partner of the special wild area. Led by a board of directors, the group generates donations that are used to maintain and enhance the 115-acre nature sanctuary. Founded in 2015, the Friends group played a major role in the construction of a butterfly garden close to the entrance of the nature sanctuary. The group also funded the colorful interpretive signs that can be seen at different vantage points along the three miles of hiking trails
In 2018, the Friends group started an amateur photo contest, in which visitors enter monthly competitions of images that display the flora and fauna that makes the Parkville Nature Sanctuary unique. To enter, check the Contest Rules.
